Measurement
We have been finding the area and perimeter of different shapes/objects.
This week we are practising our accurate measuring skills and putting our learnt knowledge into practice.
Our job this week is to find the area of our classroom, spare room (old ICT room) and the Senior school hallway (excluding the toilets, photocopy room and Senior resource room) so that we can work out the cost of replacing the carpet and vinyl in these areas.
We just started this today. Here are some photos of us measuring starting our measurements.
A lesson about Angles
This lesson was planned and taught to Room 24 by Reece, Alaina, Kerryn and Jayden B.LI: to understand the basic angles and be able to draw and explain them.
The class started with a warmup game of SKUNK.
We all love playing this game.
Olivia has achieved the highest score in this game with 123 points so far this year. Today Stacey achieved 70 points which was the highest total today.
Angles Lesson
Our teachers went over what the 6 basic angles are.
These are:
Acute Angles - any angle that is between 0 and 90 degrees.
Right Angle - an angle that measures 90 degrees.
Obtuse Angles - any angle that is between 90 and 180 degrees.
Straight Line - an angle that measures 180 degrees.
Reflex Angles - any angle that is between 180 and 360 degrees.
Full Rotation - an angle that measures 360 degrees.
Their students had to draw and label these angles in their maths books.
Kerryn, Alaina and Reece made sure everyone was on-track, focused and knew what they were doing. They also checked that everyone knew the difference between the angles and that they understood how to draw and measure these angles.

After the class were taught about angles, Alaina, Kerryn and Reece handed out Bingo boards, which they had designed. This was a fun way to reinforce their new knowledge. They had written the questions and answers, drawn the bingo boards and made counters for the class to use. This is the class playing Angle BINGO.
Congratulations to Tamara for winning Angle BINGO!

Number Warmups
Every morning, after basic facts, we have to complete a number warmup.
Mrs Lupe-Houben sets a range of questions.
Here are some of us sharing how we solved the problems.

This is cool ha ha
