The Treaty of Waitangi

In Weeks 1 and 2 of this term, we talked about and discussed the Treaty of Waitangi.  We had to work in co-operative groups to answer questions about the Treaty of Waitangi.  The questions were:  "Why do people/countries have treaties?", "What is the Treaty of Waitangi?", "When and where was the Treaty of Waitangi signed?", "Have you heard any news reports about Waitangi Day?", "Who signed the Treaty of Waitangi?" and "Do you know what was written in the Treaty of Waitangi?"  Some of us shared our experiences when we visited Waitangi.  

This was a great way to start the new school year.  As well as learning about the Treaty of Waitangi, we were also learning to work co-operatively in groups.  Here are some photos of us working together.
