Welcome Back!
Welcome back to school. I hope everyone had a wonderful 2 week holiday and are ready to jump straight into our learning for this term.
In maths we are continuing with addition and subtraction and will move onto learning multiplication and division strategies once our add/sub strategies are really solid.
We will be learning how to write factual and information reports during our writing sessions.
We will be continuing to improve our reading strategies, focusing on our comprehension, retelling, evaluating, predicting and clarifying skills.
As part of our reading programme I will be introducing "The Daily 5" which is a reading programme that Western Heights school will be adopting. We are in the very early stages of learning and integrating this programme into our classrooms and it will take time to set up correctly, but the end results are worthwhile.
Our inquiry theme is "Transformation".
Our class, along with Room 25 will be looking at the Victorian Era and the scientific changes (life Processes) during this period. If you have any resources or amazing knowledge that you would love to share with us, please let me know. We would love to skype an "expert" if we can.
We are now into 1 of our winter terms, when the chances of your child becoming sick are high.
